Well here I am with a BS in Computer Engineering working in the Auto Industry and it is not too bad as I currently have a job, but there are many that don't and some getting laid off work all the time. In a recent interview for Automotive Testing Technology International magazine in the May 2006 issue, Bob Lutz had a little mention about outsourcing of engineering for reduced costs and therefore improving profits. Here is his quote from the magazine "We will, over time, reduce the engi...

I heard recently that Google is building the framework for adding dynamic ads into Vidoes. I know of others, who have already developed the framework to put dynamic changing ads into podocsts (Podshow and Tech Podcasts) and I even know the location of PHP code to make this happen for podcasts. Once this happens, it will provide revenue streams to podcasts, vidcasters and websites to help pay for the hosting and bandwidth. I believe this plus ABC, NBC and CBS posting thier shows for fre...

When I signed up, I was able to get some free points, which I then used to 'buy' a game: Heroes of Might & Magic: Quest for the Dragon Bone Staff for the Playstation 2. Got it within a week of 'buying' the title. SO, how does this work and how do they make money. Well, you can pay them $1 per point, which is what you use to order games on their site. You can also sell your game on their site, which is another way to gain points. If you have the points, then you don't have to pay an...

Is it that your teeth just continue to decay and nothing you can do will stop that once it starts? (warning, a slight rant ensues) I recently had a existing cavity from way back (unkown amount of time go bad) and my existing root canal from about 8 years ago go bad, such that I had to have the root canal redone and the cavity filling redone. This is pretty damn annoying! The root canal had become slightly sensitive and the xray showed a bit of infection below the tooth, but how m...

Yes I know it is an older game and there are a ton of reviews out there, but I did not write them! Overall, I would say yes it was all it was hyped up to be. The only minus I had about it was that it bordered on becoming a teadmill. How, in that it became the same thing over and over again when it came to defeating each colossus. The only other issue I had was the very last Colossus - all the other ones had very similiar strategies to beat, but the last one required you do something, ...

Well, as predicted, the bill was found to be unconstitutional! It appears that Granholm is going to now appeal the decision, yet again more tax payer dollars. My family is generally mostly Democrats and I lean towards that side of the political spectrum, although I am more towards the center than my parents. Looks like I will be voting the other way this time around. Of course I refuse to vote for the republican candidate, Dick 'billionaire' whatever his last name is. Sure, like he...

I have finally started podcasting. It is related to the Link , which is a medieval historical reenactment organization. The podcast is based around event reports and interviewing members of the SCA, who have been around a while and are some of the movers and shakers of the SCA. Mostly the focus is the martial arts side of the organization, but it covers all aspects. I hope to one day start parlaying my experience into a side business producing podcasts for business and some other hobbi...

Warning, the External link is to a PDF file. Yes, for the past 1.5 years of my working life, I have been involved with the design of the battery pack, from Link , I can now finally brag about (some). Cobasys is supplying the NiMH battery pack for the 2006 Green Line Saturn Vue. Our competition.... Panasonic and Sanyo, which are some biggies. Of course, some may argue that there is such a big demand right now, that the two biggies are not big enough to supply the demand right now, but...

I am about fed up with renting DVDs. It could be my cheap VCR, but since I recently bought a PS2, I decided, next time the DVD stops in the middle of a movie, I will just swith and watch it on the PS2. Well, low and behold, it stops playing at the same damn location on the PS2 as it does on the DVD plyaer And here I thought it was because I had bought a cheapie DVD player. I have had this happen many a times with the DVDs, enough to be to the point of, when I really want to see a whol...

Here is a great example of what goes into making a computer game or at least making one within a 40 hour work week. Link Here is a competition/event, where a game is developed in a day: Link I have heard of a couple others like these, but the first journal link is a fun read, besides some old time computer game flashbacks.

Well, here we are, Michigan now is getting sued just as many in the local IGDA community suggested it would as well as others from outside the region. Here is hte Gamasutra article: Link Here is an article from GamesIndustry.biz site: Link How much time and money is spent by Politicians on useless or bad laws? I am sure they spend a significant amount of time trying to 'solve' societies problems and sometimes, perhaps a lot, they are just missing the boat and are wrong.

Funny how Star Wars used the Clone Wars in Episode II used Clones for fighting a war and here we are in 2005 and a mouse, dog and sheep have now been successfully cloned! What next? Well, unlike the Star Wars clone development, where the clones come out of the factory at an adult age, our clones have to follow the normal age progression from birth - youth - adult - elderly - death. So, the next time there is a prolonged World War, will some nation start their own little Cloning program...
