I know there are not a lot of Game Devs on here and most are probably from Stardock, but what do you use for Software Requirements Development? My company, Link, which I am newly (4 months ago) switched over to work as a Software Engineer doesn't quite have an explicit method by which Software Requirements are done. Yes, we do them, but the process isn't super effiecient and we have considered some alternatives to our current process, such as purchasing the DOORS software for Requirements Development.

I know developement of a Game Design Doc isn't exactly the same as Software Requirements, but it really is. SO, what do you use or have used in the past? Check out the External link at the bottom, which has a fairly comprehensive list of tools for Software Requirements development. There is one cool one that is open source and appears to be attempting an OS version of DOORs, but it isn't up to snuff and is probably not ready for a production environment. It is focused on the Volere model, but the tools cover others as well.

I am also reading 2 books on the subject, so I was wondering if you had any recommendations as well? Here they are:

"Mastering the Requirements Process" by Suzanne Robertson and James Robertson - Soft Req book
and
"Software Requirements 2nd Edition" by Karl E. Wiegers" - Soft Req book
